What is OEI Therapy?
Observed Experiential Integration Therapy (OEI) is a trauma processing therapy that is used to help you process difficult and traumatic events from your past. OEI has evolved out of EMDR therapy and uses your visual pathways to integrate both brain hemispheres which results in a reduction of anxiety and trauma symptoms.
Trauma impacts our nervous system as well as our emotions and view on the world. While talk therapy can be helpful for processing your experiences, specific trauma processing therapies are shown to help people move forward from feeling stuck in their past. OEI is a somatic based trauma processing therapy and works to address your brain and your body and the impacts that they have experienced due to traumatic experiences.
What can OEI Therapy help with?
Research has shown that OEI is effective at treating a number of symptoms and challenges. These include:
- PTSD
- Anxiety
- Phobias
- Depression
- Sexual assault
- Childhood abuse and trauma
- Eating disorders
- Negative self talk
- Abusive or toxic relationships
- Low self worth
We know that OEI can be difficult to picture and to understand what exactly it means to “integrate your brain hemispheres with your visual field”. We encourage you to watch the video about OEI.
